For the Parnelli Awards, which is done with three magazines on live events I write for (PLSN, FOH, Stage Directions), I get to do tribute documentaries to those being honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
What my latest here.
What’s nice is I got to do one for MMR. Since his passing in 2008, that magazine has honored the legacy of long-time editor (and my mentor) Don Johnson through the Don Johnson Service Award. This year the award was presented to John Jr. and Jim D’Addario of the D’Addario Company, amazing brothers who not only built an amazing company, but who have given back to the music instrument community by supporting and creating music makers through their D’Addario Foundation.
They have an inspiration story, one I was able to bring to life in this video. It was shown at the recent SupportMusic Coalition meeting at the NAMM show in January. I was absolutely thrilled to do it, and am grateful to know these gentlemen.
I’ve been doing these since 2003, and would love the opportunity to do it for some other industry or organization if the need ever came up!
